While
ruffled dresses might have been the over-arching theme at last weekend's 2010
Golden Globes, it was beaded gowns that were turning heads on the red carpet at last night's
2010 SAG Awards.
We first spotted actress and
face of Dior, Marion Cotillard in a short white number by
Elie Saab Haute Couture which featured a heavily beaded one-shouldered bodice -- not unlike the
single-strapped dress she wore to the Golden Globes -- with floral appliqué at the hem.
The French beauty paired her dress with sky high white platforms, also from Elie Saab, and again finished her look with
Chopard jewelry: note the whopping 28 carat cushion cut emerald and diamond ring set in platinum.
Going in a darker direction,
Cotillard's "Nine" co-star, best supporting actress nominee
Penelope Cruz, dazzled in a curve-hugging black
L'Wren Scott gown encrusted with so many jet-black beads that it must have weighed, like, 20lbs.
Cruz completed her look with peep-toe pumps by Casadei, and like
Cotillard, rocked
Chopard jewels -- namely, a 23 carat bracelet studded with radiant cut yellow and white diamonds.
While best leading actress winner
Sandra Bullock donned a black form-fitting
Alexander McQueen key-hole gown with cobalt blue beads in the shape of feathers decorating the neckline.
Perhaps all the ladies were paying homage to beaded-up "
Golden Girls" actress Betty White, who celebrated her Life Achievement Award, presented by Sandra Bullock, in a turquoise --
2010's color of the year -- dress with sheer, embellished sleeves.
And see which
gem of a trend made a bold statement at the
2010 SAG Awards.

Numerous actresses at the
2010 SAG Awards shook up the red carpet with surprising, saturated jewel tones.
Diane Kruger, part of the winning cast of the film "
Inglorious Basterds," stretched the standard color spectrum with a deep-citrine dress. Young American designer
Jason Wu (of Michelle Obama's
Inaugural ballgown fame) designed the sensuous, one-shouldered gown. Come to think of it, her dress pairs perfectly with this year's citrine-encrusted
Award Show Season compact by
L'Oreal.
Lea Michele, breakout "
Glee" star, chose a bright emerald, draped column dress by
Malandrino. The songbird also incorporated both the
ruffle and
décolletage trends from last Sunday's
Golden Globes with her plunging neckline and heavily ruffled cap sleeves. Her choice of jewelry was more unique; instead of loading up on sparklers, she stacked a couple of blue and green enameled bangles by Jean Schlumberger for
Tiffany & Co.
Anna Kendrick, who sparred with
George Clooney in "
Up In the Air," landed in a vivid amethyst silk chiffon bustier dress by
Alberta Ferretti. Proving again that
purple is a huge color for this award show season.
"
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" star
Mariska Hargitay broke out a tourmaline-pink
Vera Wang halter dress. And despite
Chloë Sevigny's Golden Globes
mishap, Hargitay braved a ruffled train.
Even "Golden Girl"
Betty White -- this year's recipient of the Life Achievement Award -- bolstered the trend with her flowing
turquoise chiffon -- despite joking to USA Today that since she's hardly a fashionista, she should
send just the dress to the ceremony!

Side Winders: Mariah Carey, Penelope Cruz and Michelle Monaghan all wore their long locks over one shoulder. Photo: Jennifer Graylock/jpistudios.com | Wireimage
Swept-to-the side hair took center stage at Saturday night's
16th Annual Screen Actor's Guild Awards.
A-listers, such as
Penelope Cruz,
Michelle Monaghan,
Mariah Carey and
Marion Cotillard ordered their hair on the side for the big night of actors awarding their own.
In some cases, the asymmetrical look was also functional. For presenter Michelle Monaghan, a pushed-to-the-side style allowed her stunning backless dress to be the star of the show.
Penelope Cruz, who was nominated for female actor in a supporting role for "
Nine," wore her highlighted tresses loose, wavy and tossed over one shoulder. Cruz's "Nine" co-star
Marion Cotillard did her sideways look in the form of a chic, old Hollywood-style chignon.
"
Precious" star Mariah Carey tucked one side of her shiny golden tresses behind her ear and let the bulk of it spill over one shoulder.
Each of the actresses also wore robust waves, a fresh update to the smooth, side parted hair -- a la
Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock at the People's Choice Awards -- we've been seeing so much of lately.

Lotion Up! Photo: Getty Images
You don't have to settle for dry and
dull skin when the weather turns cold. Just follow a few simple beauty tips and you can beat the wintertime blahs and give your
complexion the healthy, glowing look it deserves.
"In the winter, you need to add products to your skin-care regime to protect yourself from the harsh elements; if you're using a normal, lightweight moisturizer, bump it up to a more emollient one," Dawn Diorio, a national trainer and aesthetician for Ahava, told
Elle.com. When choosing a lotion, Diorio recommends finding one that contains
glycerin,
aloe and
vitamin E to stimulate circulation and eliminate toxins from the skin.
In addition to your daily
moisturizer, a
serum can also help protect your skin and lock in more moisture. "You need to layer your skin care just as you layer your clothes," Diorio said. "A serum penetrates and hydrates cells in the lower layer of the skin so that when they rise to the surface, they're plump and healthy."
What you do on the inside can be just as important as what you do on the outside, so don't neglect what you eat and drink. Foods high in
omega-3 fatty acids, like salmon, tuna, nuts and seeds can help rid your skin of
free radicals and boost new cell turnover. Other healthy items that keep the skin hydrated include fruit,
green tea and of course,
water.
Your bathing habits can also affect your skin. While a nice, long hot shower or
bath may feel great on a cold winter night, keep it to a minimum. Hot or warm water can be extremely drying because the more water that hits the skin, the more it breaks down the natural fats and cells on the surface. After bathing, blot your skin lightly and immediately follow with a good all-over moisturizer.
When you're at it saving your winter skin, why not
save the planet too?

Tina Fey at the Golden Globes (left) and 2010 SAG Awards (right). Photos: AP | Getty Images
The great thing about the relentless award show season is that there are chances for redemption at every turn, and they can be almost immediate.
"
30 Rock" star
Tina Fey, for example, was an unadulterated disaster at last Sunday's
2010 Golden Globes. Her strapless
Zac Posen dress... Um, where should we start? The Busy pattern, the horribly unflattering tiers, an almost theatrical crinoline enhanced fullness or the terribly dowdy tea length?
Combined, it made for one really bad
'80s prom look. Throw in the school marm-ish
updo and she was a major fashion don't.
Apparently, she got the memo. At last night's
2010 SAG Awards, Fey stepped out in a deep
purple dress by
Salvatore Ferragamo. Its knee-length and body-hugging silhouette was extremely flattering and the portrait neckline perfectly framed her face.
Even the star's hair was much more sophisticated than we've seen it. And her shoes -- sparkling
Christian Louboutin "Titi" multicolor peep-toe pumps -- were a revelation. Fey finished her look with brown diamond drop earrings and three stacked bracelets by
Neil Lane.
We wish certain other celebs would take note of this kind of red carpet rebound. What do you think of Tina's transformation? Leave a comment!
Now see someone who didn't stray far from
her Golden Globes getup.

Meryl Streep literally demonstrated her black belt in red carpet dressing at tonight's 2010
SAG Awards.
Staying true to her accessory du jour, Streep cinched the waist of her full-length silk
Balenciaga gown with a wide, triple-buckled belt which added a bit of toughness to the lush draping, plunging neckline and splashy blue-and-green pattern of her dress. Streep completed her look with Fred Leighton jewelry.
The legendary actress has been buckling up a lot lately. Most recently, she wore a belted
Chris March -- as in the "
Project Runway" alum -- dress to the 2010
Golden Globes last Sunday.
Back in November, at the Gotham Independent Film Awards, she wrapped up in a wide black belt. And at last month's New York premiere of her current hit film, "
It's Complicated," she again strapped on a thick, gold-buckled belt.
Could she have been influenced by all the belted dresses she wore in "
Julie & Julia?"
